Hiring a Cleaner Isn’t Lazy — It’s Strategic

You could clean your place. But why should you? Nobody shames a CEO for not scrubbing their own toilet — they just assume their time is better spent elsewhere. Hiring someone to help doesn’t make you incapable. It makes you self-aware — and a lot more efficient.

There’s this idea that doing everything yourself is somehow more virtuous.
Like if you don’t clean your bathroom or scrub your floors, you’re cutting corners or worse, being lazy.

But who believes that?

It’s 2025. Most of us are working full time, managing households, raising kids, training for something, studying for something, building something, and still somehow expected to keep our homes spotless and instagramable. Every week.

And if you don’t? You feel like you’re slipping.

But here’s the thing: the average adult spends about 6 hours a week on household chores. Double if you live with pets or kids. That’s six or more hours you could use to hit the gym, cook something that didn’t come from a microwave, study for that cert, or just do nothing for once.

In that context, hiring a cleaner doesn’t sound lazy.
It sounds like time management.

This isn’t about outsourcing your responsibilities.
It’s about managing your resources.

The word "outsourcing" gets tossed around in headlines, but that’s not what’s happening here. You’re not shipping your home off to a stranger. You’re getting help — the same way people hire a tax professional, go to a mechanic, or order lunch instead of meal-prepping on 3 hours of sleep.

Nobody shames a CEO for not cleaning their toilet.
They just assume that their time is better used elsewhere.
Guess what? So is yours.

You could clean your place. But why should you?

Hiring someone to help doesn’t make you incapable. It makes you self-aware.
It means you’ve looked at your calendar, your energy levels, your goals, and made a smart call.

You don’t earn a gold star for burnout. And nobody’s handing out awards for spending Saturday morning on your hands and knees behind the toilet.

But you do get something better when you let go of that pressure:
Time back. Headspace cleared. One less thing pulling at your attention.

Hire a cleaner. Use your time like it’s valuable — because it is.
